Monster Mixxd Energy Review

According to some people Monster drinks are overrated, they're not really bad but people make them seem a lot better then they really are. Anyway, I picked up this drink since I'd never tried it before and because I wanted an energy drink. The can design is just about the same as the other "Energy+Juice" varieties of Monster, but the M on the front of the can is purple. I always like to laugh at the descriptions on the back of Monster cans, too bad this one isn't as ridiculous as some other varieties. They claim this drink is all of their extra flavors thrown together and they also have no idea how it works "so damned fast". Well, let's find out how it tastes and if it actually works "so damned fast"

The Can:
Like I said, Mixxd's can is pretty much the same as the rest of Monster's "Energy+Juice" cans but the M is purple. The description on the back of the can says that it's a mixed flavor but the M on the front immediately makes you think it's grape. It's a really nice looking can and I do like Monster's more dark approach they take with their products. I do agree with Monster being somewhat overrated but that doesn't mean they make horrible drinks.

The Drink:
The taste of Mixxd is kind of indescribable (I think it says that on the back of the can too actually), it's really just your average grape flavor that tastes similiar to a lot of other grape energy drinks. If you're going to drink it, just expect a grape flavor because that's really all there is to it. It's fairly comparable to grape soda but the grape flavor isn't nearly as prominent.

The Buzz:
As for the energy buzz, it does what it's supposed to do. I've had stronger and I've had weaker, but it's not too bad. It's the standard Monster blend so if you've had any Monster drinks before then you should know what to expect.

If you like grape flavors and want to pay close to $3 for this can of Monster, go ahead. It's an alright tasting drink that provides an above average buzz but I don't think it's going to become a drink that I buy on a regular basis.

Rumba Energy Juice Review

Photo from www.bevnet.com

Two other drinks I reviewed before, Samba and Tango, are from the same line as this drink. Rumba is supposed to be the orange flavored drink, orange juice from a carton tastes pretty good but when it comes from a can it can sometimes be disgusting. Like the other two varieties, Rumba is 100% juice which makes it a healthier alternative to some other energy drinks out there. Let's see how Rumba compares with the other two flavors I've already reviewed.

The Can:
I don't know the full story behind the Rumba energy juice line but Rumba's can used to have a different design than it does now. Rumba, Samba and Tango all have similar designs so I think Rumba came out first and when they changed the can design they released Samba and Tango. I don't know if that's actually true, it's just what I'm assuming. Anyway, Rumba's can looks nice enough and it doesn't look very different than the other two drinks in the line. It looks good for an orange flavored drink.

The Drink:
I'll save you, the reader, valuable time by paraphrasing the drink in the following sentence:

This is the most revolting, disgusting drink I've ever had and it tastes horrible.

The Buzz:
Rumba contains the same energy blend as the other drinks in the line. It's a nice blend and the drink gave me the buzz I was looking for. The blend contains a long list of ingredients and the blend does what it's supposed to, which is provide energy for a few hours.

The Rumba line is something different to try, but I strongly suggest staying away from this drink. I barely finished it due to the flavor, something about it didn't taste right. It was orange juice but had a disgusting chalky aftertaste that was gross. The buzz was pretty good but the flavor was nasty.

Rockstar Juiced Guava Energy Review

I've been on an energy juice kick lately so when I saw this I had to give it a try. The original Rockstar is one of my favorite drinks and any other variety of Rockstar I've tried before has been pretty good. Rockstar drinks not only have pretty nice energy blends but they also usually have pretty interesting and unique flavors. Let's see how Rockstar did with this drink in the can, taste and buzz categories.

The Can:
The can design of this drink looks great, they did a really good job with it. It maintains the same basic layout that the original Rockstar can has but the purple makes the can look pretty unique. I like the colors of the can and the overall design fits a guava drink well.

The Drink:
Basically, this drink is supposed to be the original Rockstar with tropical guava juice added to it. I've never had tropical guava juice so I can't tell you how good it tastes compared to the real thing, but it tastes really good. There's still that slight bubble gum taste that the original Rockstar has too, and with the guava added it tastes perfect. I can't really describe how the guava tastes, but it's sort of like a very slight grape flavor.

The Buzz:
Rockstar Juiced Guava contains Rockstar's regular energy blend, which is a pretty nice one. It contains plenty of ingredients to give you the energy buzz you expect when buying an energy drink and it doesn't disappoint. The buzz from this drink lasted for about 2 hours which for me seems to be the average amount of time any good energy drink lasts.

If you're looking for something different to try I recommend this drink. It tastes good and works, although it may be a little more hard to find than the original Rockstar.

Tango Energy Juice Review

I already reviewed Samba, another drink from the Rumba Energy Juice line and I thought it was pretty good. I initially thought that this drink would be a grape flavor so I decided to pick it up and try it out. As I mentioned in a previous review, this line of drinks in made by Hansen's, the same company that makes Monster. It's interesting that the company could have two different drink lines that are both pretty much the opposite of eachother.

The Can:
Tango's can is similar to the other drinks in the line. It has the same blue background and everything but the "100% juice" has been changed to purple. Tango's logo and that color change pretty much made me assume that Tango was in fact a grape flavored drink, but I was wrong.

The Drink:
The actual color of this drink is a dark green that looks very similar to green Kool-Aid. I don't know why they portrayed it as a grape drink on the can because it actually tastes green Kool-Aid too. Green Kool-Aid isn't the most appetizing drink out there, it's drinkable though. This drink's flavor is hard to describe, if you've ever had green Kool-Aid though you should know what to expect.

The Buzz:
Tango contains the same energy blend as the other drinks in the line. After finishing the drink I definitely felt a noticable energy buzz that lasted for awhile and did what it was supposed to. Tango provides an above average energy buzz and does what it was meant to do.

The flavor of Tango is pretty obscure and most likely won't appeal to everybody, it's alright but it's certainly not my favorite. If you can stomach the flavor though the drink does provide an above average energy buzz that is quite enjoyable.

Samba Energy Juice Review

I bought this drink from the store that I get the majority of my energy drinks from, it was on a shelf that I get drinks from sometimes but I've never tried it, until now. Samba isn't actually the name of the brand, it's actually Rumba and Samba is one of the three varieties. It doesn't say that on the can, but I wanted to figure out what brand it belonged to since the can is so indescript, and I found out after doing a little research. Believe it or not, this drink is actually made by the same company that makes Monster, Hansen's. It's 100% juice, and it mentions dancing on the can a few times, which makes sense since it's called Samba. I don't dance nor have I felt the need to, so I won't be able to tell you if it helped me out with that.

The Can:
Samba's can is mostly blue and doesn't look too bad. I like the way they put it together but I think it appeals much more to a female crowd than a male crowd, I bought the drink though so I have to review it despite not being a female. I like how the can says "100% Juice" on it, that's not something you see all the time in energy drinks and it makes the drink stand out.

The Drink:
Samba's flavor is supposed to be some sort of fruity blend. I opened up the can and drank some and recognized the flavor as 100% apple juice. Apple juice doesn't taste horrible out of a cup but coming from a can makes it taste worse than usual. If you don't care for apple juice then you wouldn't like this drink. I don't think it tastes horrible and it's not the worst I've had, it's just apple juice.

The Buzz:
As far as I can tell from reading the back of the can, Samba contains the same or a very similar energy blend to Monster energy. Monster provides a pretty enjoyable buzz therefore Samba does too. The buzz lasted for a few hours and did what it was meant to do.

Even though Samba has a decent flavor and buzz, it costs the same as a Monster and has the same energy blend as a Monster, which means I'd much rather have a Monster than a Samba.

Monster M3 Energy Review

Since there isn't much to it, here's the text from the back of this 5oz. bottle:

This little bottle of super concentrated Monster madness packs a 16oz. punch into only 5oz. of liquid. Our unique nitrous technology mellows out the flavor. A shot it's not, but then you don't have to plug your nose to drink it! Grab an M3 glass and kick some ass!

I heard that Monster is going to discontinue the Hitman shot which has been out for awhile, and this is it's replacement. Lately, Monster has been putting out some pretty stupid drinks, including this. I don't see the need to discountinue Hitman or completely replace it, it's pointless. Especially because this is a 5oz. drink in a glass bottle with a cap like you'd find on a bottle of beer. It's a pretty ridiculous design and to me it just doesn't make much sense, apparently someone loved the idea though. You have to use a bottle opener to open it too, which is a pain when you just want to buy it and drink it. Still, since it's a new drink I decided to pick it up and give it a try.

The Bottle:
Like I said, M3 comes in a ridiculous looking glass bottle. A lot of people probably think that this is an "ingenious" design, it is creative and I give Monster credit for it. Still, the fact that you have to use a bottle opener to open it can be annoying. It's not like Bawls Guarana which uses a twist-off cap even though it comes in a glass bottle. Whoever writes the descriptions on the back of Monster products does a good job, no matter how bad the product may actually be the description draws you in and makes you want to try it for some reason. I do think it would be cool to release regular Monster in full sized glass bottles, unfortunately I'm not a big fan of this one though.

The Drink:
M3 is just 16 oz. of Monster concentrated into a 5 oz. bottle, it's not really a new flavor at all. When I opened up the bottle and quickly drank it in just over the amount of time it would take me to drink a regular sized shot, the drink didn't taste as bad as I thought. It still had the original Monster taste but was a little more bitter, that's a given though when you're cramming 16 oz. into 5 oz.

The Buzz:
Soon after finishing the drink I started to feel a pretty potent energy buzz. The buzz eventually mellowed out after a few minutes and didn't turn out to be that amazing at all. It lasted for a few hours and was ok, but I've had better in the past.

M3 is an expensive drink, the bottle design is cool but I can definitely see it being annoying for some people. The taste isn't as bad as I expected but the buzz was only slightly above average. If one tiny bottle of M3 didn't cost so much I might recommend it but since you can get better for the same price or even cheaper, I don't.

Venom Death Adder Energy Review

Even though it comes in an orange bottle, Death Adder is actually a fruit punch flavored drink. I think it would make more sense to put Black Mamba in the orange bottle and Death Adder in the red bottle. I don't know why they put this drink in an orange bottle when it's common sense that fruit punch is a red drink, who knows. Anyway, let's see if this drink can redeem with Venom brand in the flavor category since the Black Mamba variety was a Red Bull knock-off.

The Bottle:
Like I just mentioned, Death Adder comes in an orange bottle which makes little sense. Still, the Venom bottles look pretty impressive and are nice to look at. Dr. Pepper did a nice job putting a lot of info on the bottle while still making it look good and appealing to drink. I like the design and it's one of the more creative ones I've ever seen.

The Drink:
Fruit Punch flavored energy drinks arent the most common thing out there, I've had a few of them before though and they're always alright. When I twisted open the bottle and drank some, this drink's flavor was pretty good also. The fruit punch is pretty strong and it's not quite as smooth as some other fruit punch energy drinks I've had. Still, the fruit punch makes for a tasty flavor that is easy to drink and enjoy.

The Buzz:
Death Adder contains all of your regular energy ingredients such as caffeine, guarana and taurine. With the decent amount of ingredients the drink has it provides an above average energy buzz that lasted about 2 hours for me. I felt alert and much more awake so the drink definitely did what it was supposed to. It's not the strongest and it's definitely not the weakest.

Overall, Death Adder is a good energy drink that provides a nice energy buzz with a tasty fruit punch flavor. If you like fruit punch and want to try something new I highly recommend trying this drink.
