Rip It A'Tomic Pom Energy Review

Although I've been drinking energy drinks for a long time, and I've had a lot of Rip It drinks in the past, I finally got to try this flavor for the first time yesterday. For some reason I could never find this flavor, not even at stores that had all the other ones. I finally found it in a store that I'd never been to before yesterday and was really excited to try it after all this time.

The Can:
This drink's can design is outstanding, they did a really great job with this one.  I really like the darker red, the can may be hard to distinguish from another certain variety of Rip It in the cooler due to the similar colors, but I really like the way it's a darker red like a pomegranate.

The Drink:
I didn't know exactly what to expect flavor-wise, Rip It drinks typically have somewhat unique flavors. A'Tomic Pom obviously has a pomegranate flavor, but it's not nearly as strong as I thought it would be. The pomegranate flavor isn't overpowering at all, it's a pretty subtle flavor in general but it's not bad. In my opinion, a more strong pomegranate flavor would make the drink taste kind of thick. The flavor was also slightly sour, it wasn't very strong either but made the drink more enjoyable for me.

The Buzz:
Energy wise, there are 208 milligrams of caffeine and 2000 milligrams of Taurine, which together provide a pretty decent lift in energy. The flavor was good so I drank this fairly fast, I didn't shotgun it or anything but I didn't exactly take my time either. Not long after finishing it I felt a really noticable energy buzz, which always seems to happen with Rip It drinks for some reason. I had to cut some grass afterwards and drinking this helped me out, I also had about 2 1/2 hours of solid energy afterwards. For 99 cents, all of the Rip It drinks are great. I noticed on the Rip It website that there are 3 new flavors coming out, one is called 3 Way and the other is called Red Zone, they haven't released any info on the third one yet. I asked when they would be available on the Rip It Facebook page and was told they would be out in "early May" (this was in April), but I haven't seen or heard about them being anywhere yet.

Either way, I look forward to trying new Rip It flavors and would highly recommend this drink to any pomegranate fan looking for a pretty good energy drink at a great value.

AZ Energy Review

Arizona Tea is awesome, for only 99 cents, sometimes 85 cents, you get a huge can full of great tasting tea. Each variety of their tea is pretty good and I've had just about all of them at one time or another. Not surprisingly, Arizona also has a few energy drink offerings also. After some searching, I finally found this drink after only seeing the low-carb version at a Dollar Tree in the past. Unlike another Arizona drink I reviewed before, this is more of a "standard" energy drink because it contains ingredients like Caffeine and Taurine.

The Can:
I like this drink's can design a lot, they did a good job with the graffiti theme and the black and white background helps the green stand out. It's an overall nice design and doesn't look that bad.

The Taste:
Since Arizona is a tea company, I assumed that this drink would taste like tea. Upon opening up the can and drinking some, it did. It tasted a lot like tea with a slight energy drink "bite" to the taste and any fan of tea would undoubtedly like this. There are a few odd background flavors that I can't quite pinpoint, but it tastes mostly like tea.

The Buzz:
The back of the can says that this drink contains 10% juice and it also actually lists all of the ingredients in the drink. AZ contains 12.8 grams of Glucose, 1000 mg of Taurine, 100 mg of Caffeine, 100 mg of L-Carnitine, 100 mg of Panax Ginseng Extract, 100 mg of Inositol, 100 mg of Guarana, 100 mg of Glucoronolactone and 35 mg of Milk Thistle. That's not a bad blend, and I expected a pretty good buzz from this drink. I had to walk about 20-25 minutes to get this drink and decided to drink it when I was about halfway home. By the time I was home, I had an above average buzz that was pretty enjoyable.

This drink provided like I thought it would, the buzz lasted a few hours and since I love tea I'll probably be picking this one up again in the future.

NOS Charged Citrus Energy Review

I finally found this drink after looking for it since it came out a few months ago, it was in a cooler at a store that I've only been to a few times before. I've heard that this drink tastes somewhat like soda and after looking for it and finally finding it after awhile I was pretty excited to try it. Even though I like drinking more hard to find drinks, I still appreciate it when a more commercial brand puts out a new drink.

The Can:
The can design is pretty vibrant and looks good, NOS can designs are pretty simple. They all look pretty much the same with the exception of the background color fitted to the flavor of drink.

The Drink:
It was hard for me to predict the flavor of the drink, but upon opening it and taking a sip I loved the taste. It tasted a lot like "white pop" (7 Up, Sprite etc.). It kind of reminded me of Bawls, a drink I haven't had since 2006 or 2007, it was actually the first or second energy drink I ever had and as soon as I can find some more Bawls I'll review it. My brother used to go to LAN parties at his school and brought some home sometimes. Anyway, this drink was fairly reminiscent of soda and was a far cry from the usually strange flavors that a lot of energy drinks are. It kind of tasted like ginger-ale towards the end of the can and it was really good. It didn't taste anything like the original NOS and wasn't extremely fruity like the other flavors. I really enjoyed the simplicity of the flavor and would recommend it to anybody who has said that energy drinks taste horrible in the past.

The Buzz:
NOS drinks boast a pretty nice energy blend, this one contains 260 mg  of caffeine, B vitamins, 2000 mg of Taurine and L Theanine. Not long after finishing it I felt a nice energy buzz which was kind of weird coming from a drink that tastes like this one does. The buzz mellowed after about 3 1/2 hours for me, it wasn't spectacular but it wasn't bad.

The flavor was really great and I think that they did an awesome job with it, if you're a fan of "white pop" I recommend it.

Rockstar Punched Energy Review

Last tuesday was probably the best day I've had in awhile. I went on a trip to Cedar Point, an amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio and rode 9 roller coasters in the time I was there. I pretty much walked right onto all of them with the exception of the Top Thrill Dragster, which I waited for over an hour for and the Millenium Force, which was only about a 15 minute wait. I've always loved roller coasters and even though the Top Thrill Dragster was the most intense ride I've ever been on, The Millenium Force was my favorite because the first drop was amazing and it was a great ride in general. The Top Thrill Dragster only last about 17 seconds, you shoot from 0 to 128 miles per hour in 3 seconds and then drop 400 feet straight down, it was awesome. After riding those two and the other coasters near the front, I made my way to the back of the park towards the Gemini, Mean Streak, and Magnum XL-200, which I rode 4 times. Located near the Gemini was a stand that sold energy drinks, which made my day. I decided to pick up the only drink there I hadn't had before, which was this. I paid $5 for it which you wouldn't pay anywhere else but Cedar Point, the park is somewhat notorious for it's awesome roller coasters but high food and drink prices. Still, I was excited to give this drink a try.

The Can:
The can design is nice, I can never find it at any local stores but I think they did a good job with the black, white and red color scheme. The can says that it's a "tropical punch" flavor, which is pretty much fruit punch.

The Drink:
After opening it, that's exactly what it was. It's just fruit punch but it tastes pretty good, I'd highly recommend this to anybody this to anyone that loves fruit punch since that's exactly what this drink is, nothing else.

The Buzz:
Rockstar drinks always have impressive energy blends, this drink isn't an exception. It actually supposedly has 50% more caffeine than the original Rockstar. The sign at the stand promised "enhanced g-forces" and "more air time", I rode several more coasters after drinking this and since it was my first time riding all of them, I can't really say if that statement is true. The average person isn't going to be riding a bunch of roller coasters after drinking this so that doesn't really matter.Still, I did note an above average energy buzz from this drink.

This drink did help me feel a lot more awake after a 3 hour ride to the park and a few roller coasters. It's a great tasting drink and provides a pretty good buzz, if I can ever find this drink nearby I'm definitely picking it up again, you should too.

Venom Mojave Rattler Energy Review

I've had two other Venom drinks in the past, Venom drinks are made by Dr. Pepper and come in interesting aluminum bottles. As one can tell by looking at the bottle, they put a lot of effort into it. I picked up this drink about a week ago at K-Mart along with two of K-Mart's "Loop" energy drinks. I remember being unimpressed with the "Black Mamba" variety of Venom because it was a Red Bull clone and being pretty satisfied with the "Death Adder" variety, I was looking forward to trying this drink and seeing what it was like.

The Bottle:
The bottle design is pretty impressive and it's nice to look at. "Mojave Rattler" is an odd name for an energy drink but fits in nicely with the Venom brand name. This is Venom's "low carb" offering, low carb drinks have never been that bad in the past so I was somewhat excited to try this.

The Drink:
When I opened it and drank some, it wasn't bad at all. The placebo effect could make one expect this to be grape flavored , but it really isn't. It's not a purple drink, it's actually supposed to be the low carb form of the Black Mamba variety. I had and reviewed the Black Mamba variety awhile ago, as far as I can remember it was pretty much a red bull clone. I still noticed a small grape flavor in the taste, whether it was intentional or if I just expected grape since the bottle was purple, I don't know (If you've ever had "Superman" ice cream. it's just vanilla ice cream with artificial coloring in it, there's actually no fruit flavors whatsoever, your brain thinks so because that's what you've come to expect, which is called the placebo effect). It wasn't a bad taste, much like the "Nitrous" varieties of Monster, for some reason low carb drinks seem to leave a slight airy test in your mouth, it's weird and you've have to drink one to understand what I mean.  Still, it was easy to drink and most people would probably enjoy it. I still wish that Dr. Pepper would have gone the extra mile and made completely original flavors though.

The Buzz:
This drink did provide the good energy buzz that I hoped for, it wasn't extremely strong but it wasn't bad at all. It was pretty much what you expect from any good energy drink. It lasted for a few hours and didn't really make me "crash".

All in all, for being a low carb drink. it wasn't bad. If you can find this drink somewhere, I'd give it a try.

Loop Blueberry Pomegranate Energy Review

Conveniently and naturally located right next to Loop on the shelf at K-Mart was this, the blueberry pomegranate variety of Loop.  I'd never had a "blueberry pomegranate" flavored drink prior to this and I didn't quite know what to expect.

The Can:
The can is similar to the original Loop but catered to a blueberry flavor. It also has a blueish-purple tab on top. Still, it looks just as odd and funny as the original loop. You would think that even K-Mart would have better designs, but who knows.

The Drink:
When I opened it up and it took a sip, the flavor was surprisingly really good. It had a satisfying blueberry flavor to start with, and I did notice a minor pomegranate flavor in the background, but it wasn't as prominent as I figured it would be. The flavor wasn't what I'm used to from an energy drink, and it wasn't bad at all. It was definitely better than the original in my opinion.

The Buzz:
Unfortunately, the buzz was the exact same as the original. It was average and wasn't amazing, it was just there. While the Loop drinks don't provide amazing energy, I'd easily pick this up due to the cheap price just for the flavor.

If you can find this, I highly recommend it for the great flavor, I really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, this blog is about energy drinks and this drink did not provide anything amazing in that category.

Loop Energy Review

I found this unusual drink sitting on a shelf at my local K-Mart store, which has pretty much been empty most of the time since they built a Wal-Mart right down the street. I went to K-Mart pretty much on the lookout for any odd energy drinks I could find, and the trip did not disappoint.

The Can:
As you can see, the can design is pretty funny looking. The logo is so generic looking and doesn't pop at all, it looks like they used colors from Microsoft Paint to design it. Still, it's a cheap drink from K-Mart and it's the drink itself that counts I guess.

The Drink:
Upon opening it and drinking some, it was pretty much what I expected. It reminded me a lot of Aftershock and Max-E-Rush, they're not all the same drink but they taste a lot like Red Bull with something slightly different. As for this drink, it had a slightly stronger taste and didn't quite go down as smooth. It wasn't horrible but it wasn't very unique either. I drank it fairly quickly and since it was early in the morning I was eager to see what the buzz would be like.

The Buzz:
The energy ingredients on the back of the can aren't listed individually with how much of each , which isn't exactly unusual for any energy drink. Still, I didn't quite know what to expect. Soon after finishing the drink, an average buzz kind of creeped up on me. I wasn't hit all at once with a huge buzz and I wasn't really met with no buzz at all. It was somewhere in the middle and that's about it. It wasn't amazing, I've actually had better for around the same price.

I can't really say that this drink wasn't worth what I paid for it, it's a weird drink and I'd recommend it for that reason, don't pick it up expecting something amazing though.

Monster Khaos Energy Juice Review

Monster Khaos is one of Monster's juice drinks, I've had all of the other ones in the past and after drinking this I've had them all. Monster drinks are about 50/50 for me, some are pretty good and some are less than mediocre. Monster seems to make unusual desicisons when it comes to putting out new drinks, they have huge list of flavors to choose from and some flavors honestly aren't very necessary in my opinion.

The Can:
The can design isn't horrible, it's pretty much exactly what you would expect from Monster for a flavor of this nature, it's certainly not the worst I've ever seen. The colors match eachother nicely and it fits nicely with the other Monster varieties.

The Drink:
Open cracking open the orange tab on top and drinking some, it's sort of a mixed flavor but there's definitely some orange in there. I can notice a hint of pineapple backing up the orange but that's about it. It's not an amazing flavor, it's drinkable but I've a lot better in the past.

The Buzz:
Energy wise, Monster's juice drinks all appear to either have the exact same energy blend as the original Monster or a very similar one. The drink did provide a decent boost in energy that lasted awhile.

Still, I'm getting tired of Monster drinks and I know of a lot of better drinks that are a lot cheaper and are even better.

Gridlock Energy Review

Yes, this drink does actually exist. I found it at an Aldi's store, conveniently located right next to the "Red Thunder" (I'll pick some up and review it later, it was only $3 for a 4 pack). Aldi's a weird store, it's has about 2 aisles with the rest of the store being the checkout registers, where the typically overweight cashiers actually sit on chairs while they check out your food. I cracked up when I saw "Gridlock" energy, for some reason generic brand names always make me laugh.

The Can:
Much like a lot of generic energy drinks, Gridlock has a paragraph describing the drink on the back of the can, but this one makes absolutely no sense. I really can't figure out what they were trying to say, maybe you can:

"To those seeking fun and refreshment or performance-driven energy, xx. Summit is the quality brand of colas and carbonated beverages that brings flavor and function to fit your lifestyle."

Trust me, there are no typos in that paragragh. The x's are really there and it really doesn't make sense. I felt scared when the can told me that I had to choose between fun and refreshment, or performance. I felt so confused and scared that I just cracked upon the can and waited to see what happened. The can actually has a green tab on top, which is sort of weird for a drink that only costed 95 cents total. The can design is pretty humorous but it's not horrible, it's pretty much what you get for paying 95 cents for an energy drink.

The Drink:
Upon taking a sip, it's a Monster knock-off. It actually tastes a lot like the Import variety of Monster, but those two taste almost the exact same. In a "blind taste test" or something, I probably wouldn't be able to tell much of a difference except for the fact that I only felt some "fun and refreshment" or just some "performance" from one of the drinks. I was hoping that the drink would provide "fun and refreshment" because since it was hot outside the last thing that I want to be is bored and thirsty. For anybody who likes Monster, this drink is very easy to enjoy. Like I said, it tastes a lot like Monster Import to me, but there's not much of a substantial difference between that and regular Monster taste wise.

The Buzz:
Very surprisingly, this drink contains the exact same energy blend that Monster does. It's the exact same thing, but for 95 cents. Honestly, I'm pretty surprised that they not only did a pretty good job stealing the flavor but they also did a pretty good job stealing the energy blend as well. Monster's energy blend is pretty impressive, so Gridlock's is also. I actually felt a mix of "fun and refreshment" and "performance", so Gridlock's magical telekinetic powers did not influence me too much.

With such an odd name and a pretty much identical taste and energy blend to Monster for only 95 cents, you really can't go wrong with Gridlock. If you can find one at your local Aldi's, pick one up. I seriously would not recommend picking up anything else from Aldi's though because I care about my readers' safety.

Monster Nitrous Anti Gravity Energy Review

This is the last variety of Monster Nitrous that I have to review, I've reviewed the other three in the past and they've all been pretty different from one another. I really apologize for all the Monster reviews lately, but I've had pretty much every energy drink close to me so it's been kind of hard to find unique ones to review. I'm going to start looking in other towns nearby and eventually online. In the meantime, let's see how this drink compares with the other nitrous drinks I've had in the past.

The Bottle:
Like I've said before, Monster Nitrous comes in a battery style can with a decent enough looking design. I'm honestly tired of Monster drinks and even though I have a Monster Khaos review left to write after this, I won't be drinking any more Monster drinks for a long time.

The Drink:
Open popping open the can, some of what I would assume to be nitrous actually flowed out from the top of the can. It was pretty cool and I don't remember it happening with any of the other Nitrous drinks. I did twist pretty hard to pop open the can and that's probably why. Open taking a sip, I wasn't really surprised. It's pretty much an orange flavor with some similar fruits providing an aftertaste. I'm not sure if it's just that I've had a lot of Monster lately or not, but this drink did also seem to have a small original Monster taste as well. Honestly, it was a forgettable flavor and wasn't anything amazing. It was ok, but I doubt that I'd ever pick it up at the store just to drink and not review.

The Buzz:
All of the Nitrous drinks have an impressive energy blend which contains 5000mg compared to he 2500mg in a lot of Monster drinks. Not long after finishing this drink, I felt a pretty noticable buzz that got me going after a long day. I've actually had a long and stress-filled week in general, but that doesn't matter. The buzz lasted for about 3 hours and wasn't bad.

These Nitrous drinks cost $2.99 and I'll probably never pick one up again, that doesn't mean they're bad but I'm not paying that kind of money for a drink on a regular basis.

Monster Import Energy Review

Monster Import comes in a can just like the one that Dub Edition comes in. It's a nice design although I don't know if I'm really a fan of the resealable top or not. It's cool but I don't like how not much of the actual drink comes out when you take a drink. I usually drink my energy drinks pretty fast, but it's hard to do with one of these drinks. Still, it's a cool addition and I think Monster did a good job making up something unique for their cans. Actually, the back of the can says that Monster saw the resealable can thing over in Europe, they heard it was only available in Europe, but then they said "B.S., we gotta have it!".

The Can:
The can design is very reminiscent of the original Monster and it's pretty obvious that that's what this drink is most likely going to taste like. As I said, it's a nice looking can and it fits the Monster line nicely.

The Drink:
Open twisting open the resealable top and taking a sip, that's pretty much what it is. That's really all it is actually, but with the reseable top it tastes a little smoother. Monster drinks are much better when they're cold, this drink was ice cold when I had it and that's really all I noted to be different. You can't get as much liquid out of a sip and so it tastes smoother. The only "real" difference between this and the original Monster is the addition of Sucralose as an ingredient. It's not really a totally different flavor at all, but if you like the bigger and resealable can then you should probably pick this up instead of regular Monster.

The Drink:
This drink's energy blend contains L-Carnitine, Glucose, Caffeine, Guarana, Inositol, Glucuronolactone and Maltodextrin. There's also 1000 mg of Taurine and 200 mg of Panax Ginseng. I had this drink early yesterday morning and it definitely woke me up. I felt an effect from this drink before I even finished it. Once I finished it I experienced a nice energy buzz that got me going for the day. It mellowed out after about 3 1/2 hours and I didn't "crash" or anything, it just wore off.

This wasn't a bad drink, but it costs $3. I don't always feel like paying that much for a drink and you probably don't either.

Arizona RX Energy Review

I've always liked Arizona tea, all of their drinks are good and they're a great value. I'm aware of another energy drink that Arizona makes besides this called AZ, I always see it in it's low carb form at my local Dollar Tree store and I'll pick it up next time I go. AZ is what I consider a more "traditional" energy drink because it contains a lot of ingredients you'd find in most energy drinks. Arizona RX costs 99 cents and comes in a 24 oz. can.

The Can:
The can design is unusual for an energy drink but fits in nicely with all the other Arizona drinks at the store. There's a picture of a guy running on the front and it doesn't look that bad. It's not like you'd expect a can like a lot of commercial energy drink come in from the Arizona company anyway.

The Taste:
Upon opening the can and taking a big sip, the flavor was really delicious. The best I can describe it is as a mix of tea, lemon, and various other fruits. It tastes really nice and is very refreshing. The lemon is not overpowering at all, it's just a great tea drink that's very refreshing and would be great to drink on a hot Summer day. Any fan of tea out there would undoubtedly enjoy this drink, it's really good.

The Buzz:
Of course, I was somewhat curious as to whether or not this drink would provide an energy buzz at all. It contains both caffeine and guarana (The can doesn't say how much) with Panax Ginseng and Siberian Ginseng. Honestly, I can't say I felt a very substantial buzz from this drink at all. If it had any effect, I barely felt it. Just because this drink contains caffeine and guarana doesn't mean I'll be wide awake from it. Still, this drink was delicious, and that's why I'll be picking it up in the future. Maybe somebody else would feel a more substantial effect from this drink, but I didn't feel much.

Still, pick up this drink up just for the awesome taste, and expect the energy to be an added bonus. I drink a lot of products pretty high in caffeine, and I'm probably too used to those to feel much from this.

Monster Nitrous Killer-B Energy Review

I've been raiding my local grocery store's Monster shelf lately for Monster drinks I haven't tried yet for some reason, so I decided to pick up another Nitrous variety of Monster and try it out. The first two Nitrous drinks I had weren't horrible, but they weren't the best either. This drink was actually my second energy drink of the day, I had a Full Throttle earlier. I've never really cared for those that much though and I don't know why I picked it up in the first place.

The Bottle:
I like the design of this drink, it's not bad and it reminds me of the old Jolt cans. I wish that the bottles/cans/liquid containers were bigger though, they're only 12 oz. compared to the standard 16 oz. that a lot of energy drinks come in. Judging by the color of the can, I pretty much figured that the flavor would have something to do with lemon.

The Drink:
Open twisting open the can and hearing that familiar "pop" you get from these type of cans, I took a sip and noticed a mixed citrus flavor, it's hard to place but there's definitely lemon in there somewhere. It's pretty sour and doesn't resemble the original Monster at all. It's hard to describe, but these Nitrous drinks seem to have some sort of odd texture to them, it's very light and smooth.

The Buzz:
The energy blend for this drink contained 5000 mg, compared to the 2500 mg in the original Monster. The blend contains Glucose, L-Carnitine, Caffeine, Glucoronolactone, Guarana, Inositol, Bee Pollen (I'm not making that up), Royal Jelly and Maltodextrin. Why bee pollen is in the drink, I have no idea, but it does explain the name of the drink. I took a few sips of this drink before dinner and finished it afterwards, not long after I was hit with an energy buzz that was pretty enjoyable. It woke me up and I didn't feel tired at all. It wasn't extremely mellow and it wasn't just plain extreme, it was above average but it wasn't crazy. Still, it got the job done.

If you feel like paying the expensive price for this drink and like citrus flavors, I recommend this one.

Jolt Orange Burst Energy Review

I've enjoyed all of the other Jolt drinks I've had in the past so I definitely had to give this one a try. This is the last Jolt drink I haven't reviewed with the exception of the zero carb varieties, I don't plan to review them because I'm not the biggest fan of those kind of drinks, it's usually only "full flavor" energy drinks for me. Anyway, this is Jolt's orange flavored drink and judging by how good Blue Bolt and Wired Grape tasted, I figured this drink would taste pretty good. I picked it up and high expectations for it since the other Jolt drinks I've had weren't too bad.

The Can:
The can design is just right as I've mentioned before in my other Jolt reviews, it's a nice black and orange color scheme that works well for an orange flavored drink. They kept the design simple and it worked well.

The Drink:
When I opened this drink, it smelled a lot like an orange Tootsie-Pop, all of the Jolt drinks with the exception of Power Cola have a candy-like aroma. When I took a sip, it actually tasted a lot more like orange soda than orange candy, but there was actually a light orange candy aftertaste that I noticed. It tastes pretty much exactly like orange soda, and there's a nice aftertaste that's pretty enjoyable in my opinion. The Jolt company did a great job with the flavors in these 16 oz. drinks, they're really delicious and very easy to drink.

The Buzz:
All of the Jolt drinks have a pretty thourough list of energy ingredients, they don't list the amount of each but it's well known that Jolt drinks contain a lot of caffeine. Jolt drinks contain all of the ingredients you come to expect after drinking energy drinks for awhile and since there's a lot of caffeine you can assume that there's a good amount of the other ingredients too. The buzz from this drink really delivers, it's pretty effective and it's one of those buzzes that I actually seem to feel come on, and not just creep up. The buzz lasted a decent amount of time and slowly mellowed out, I didn't "crash" and it was really enjoyable.

All of the Jolt 16 oz. drinks are pretty good, if you've seen them in the store and hesitated to pick one up, don't next time. I really like these drinks and will probably pick a lot more up in the future.

Amp Lightning Energy Review

I haven't had or reviewed an Amp drink for awhile, but I wasn't extremely excited to try this drink. Amp has never really been my favorite energy drink brand and every time I need an energy drink I don't rush out and pick up an Amp. Still, this is the only Amp drink at the store I have't reviewed yet and I've been meaning to for the past month or so.
The Can:
The can design of this drink is pretty much what you'd expect for a lemon flavored drink, it doesn't look that bad and it makes sense. It's just your standard Amp can design colored for a lemon flavor, and that's it.

The Taste:
After cracking open the drink with the yellow tab on top, I took a pretty big drink because I was thirsty. The flavor of this drink caught me a little off guard, it really tasted like "real" lemonade, not like lemonade Kool-Aid or Gatorade but what actual lemonade, or actual lemons, taste like. It was somewhat of a natural taste even though this drink probably contains just about everything else except natural ingredients. I'm not the biggest fan of lemon flavored drinks but this flavor wasn't really horrible. It was strong and someone that's never actually had real lemons or lemonade before may not like it, it takes a little getting used to.

The Buzz:
As far as I can remember, Amp energy buzzes weren't the greatest. The buzz this drink gave me was about average. The buzz is there but don't believe all the weird slogans on the can. Personally, I didn't think the taste was that bad, but I can see a lot of people not liking it. The buzz was mediocre, and it was somewhat of an expensive drink.

If you really want to pay the price for it, there are drinks that are better in my opinion for the same price. Maybe if you're a big fan of lemons you should pick this up, but I don't really recommend it otherwise.

Xyience Cherry Lime Energy Review

Well, this was my first Xyience drink and this is my first Xyience review. I've seen Xyience drinks in the cooler at Circle K numerous times but just recently picked one up, which was the cherry lime variety. Before opening the drink, I decided to do a little research on the Xyience company. Their website gave me some good info on their drinks. It turns out that this drink, and the two other ones at Circle K, are from their "Premium Energy Drink" line, which all contain zero calories and are sugar free. I'm not the biggest fan of sugar free drinks but I was still excited to try the drink anyway. I'll be on the lookout for Xyience's black can's, which are the "Xtreme Energy Drinks".

The Can:
The can design of this drink certainly isn't one of most complex or eye catching I've ever seen, but I like the overall simplicity of the whole can. They didn't go overboard with the design and even though it's basically a silver can with the Xyience logo and the UFC logo with some black text, it doesn't look horrible. Simplicity isn't always a bad thing and I like how orderly the can design is and the overall theme they went with. Now, the "Xtreme" variety of Xyience drinks have black cans, but unfortunately my local Circle K didn't have them.

The Drink:
As for flavor, Cherry Lime is a new flavor to me when it comes to energy drinks. I've had cherry drinks and I've had lime drinks, but I've never had one that was both. When I opened it and took a sip, the taste was hard to place. It's definitely a good mixture of cherry and lime and they're pretty evenly balanced out. That's really all there is to the flavor, it's just cherry and lime but it seems like lime is the flavor that leaves an aftertaste in your mouth. If somebody gave me this drink in a glass and didn't tell me that it had zero calories or zero sugar, I probably wouldn't notice. After you read the can and note that the drink contains no calories or sugar, you can definitely notice it but it's not horrible by any means. It tasted pretty good and they definitely did a good job making a unique flavor while also making it taste good while containing no calories or sugar, I was impressed.

The Buzz:
The energy blend of this drink is 1,340mg and it contains Taurine, Glucoronolactone, Caffeine, Guarana, Panax Ginseng Extract, Inositol and L-Carnitine. The can doesn't say how much of each is in the drink, so I was kind of left hanging when knowing what to expect energy wise from this drink. I've heard good things about it in the past, and I did get a noticeable energy buzz. It was slightly above average, it's wasn't the strongest but it was definitely there. The energy buzz lasted me about 2 hours before it wore off, I didn't feel horrible after though and it probably didn't last as long because I wasn't very tired when I drank it.

All in all, this drink was pretty satisfying and I'm looking forward to reviewing more Xyience energy drinks in the future.

Monster Dub Edition Energy Review

It's been awhile since I've actually had the original Monster drink, every Monster drink I've had since has either been juice, nitrous infused or an unusual concentrate in a glass bottle. I picked up this drink for no real reason except for that the can caught my eye. This drink came out last year a little while before I started this site, and now I'm finally getting around to reviewing it. It's even available in the "BFC" size, I personally chose to pick it up and review in a smaller sized can because if it tasted bad I didn't want to waste a bunch of it.

The Can:
Surpisingly for Monster, this can actually isn't full of a lot of odd info and a strange statements of how good the drink is and how they came up with it. There are a few sentences to get the drinker's attention, but it didn't mention a lot about flavor or anything. Still, just about anybody could tell that this is a grape flavored drink from the colors of the can. I highly doubt that they'd put an orange flavored drink in a black and purple can.

The Drink:
This is one of those Monster cans with the resealable lids, so after I opened it and took a sip, my taste buds were met with a pleasant surprise. Like I said, it's been awhile since I've had an original Monster or even an original Monster knock-off, but I was instantly reminded of what they taste like after I took a sip of this. This drink has that same aftertaste that the original Monster does with a nice grape flavor added on to the initial taste. It's a good taste that I definitely recommend over the Mixx'd variety of Monster without a doubt. It was nice and for a grape fan like me it was even better.

The Buzz:
I picked up this drink in the 18.6 oz. can, and due to the resealable lid which makes it harder to take big gulps of the drink it took me a little longer than usual to finish. Not very long after I finished the drink, I got a pretty noticeable energy buzz that lasted for what I consider the standard 2.5/3 hours that the average energy drink should. It wore off eventually, but the buzz got me going again after a long day.

This drink does it's job and tastes pretty good, if you're a fan of the original Monster and like grape drinks, this is a great drink that you should try out.

Jolt Wired Grape Energy Review

When it comes to energy drinks, the Jolt company definitely knows what they're doing. They've been around for a really long time and pretty much invented energy drinks when they introduced their energy cola in 1986. Recently, the Jolt company unfortunately fell on hard times and discontinued their popular line of huge battery cans. Thankfully, they're back in business and have introduced four flavors in 16 oz. cans. I've already reviewed two so far (Blue Bolt and Power Cola) and since grape drinks are always fun to review, I decided to pick this one up and give it a try.

The Can:
Overall, I like the can design of the Jolt 16 oz. cans. They don't include a bunch of stupid information and to me it's just about right. The design on the can isn't shrink wrapped and it's the type of quality you'd expect from a company that's been around for so long.

The Drink:
Grape flavors are often unpredictable, so when I cracked the can open I didn't know what to expect. Jolt energy's website says that this drink is "the best tasting grape energy drink", so I was expecting something good. Upon taking a sip, the drink did taste pretty good. It was pretty much like a mix between what a grape Tootsie-Pop tastes like (I use Tootsie-Pop comparisons a lot with energy drinks, but it's true) and actual grape juice. It actually tasted like grape candy of some sort, just like how the Blue Bolt variety tastes like a blue Jolly Rancher. It was a really enjoyable taste, but I've had so many different grape drinks, it's hard to say if this is the best. Still, it's a great flavor that I enjoyed.

The Buzz:
Jolt drinks I've had in the past have provided above average energy, I assumed they would the first time I had one due to the thorough list of energy providing ingredients on the top of the can. I finished this drink pretty fast, and not too long after that same awesome energy buzz I've had before crept up on me. What I enjoy about these drinks is the perfect energy buzz when you just want some energy, it's not like they provide no energy and it's not like you'll be fearing for your life after you drink one. It's a strong buzz, but it's just right. It's perfect when I just want a good pick up from an energy drink. Still, Jolt contains 140mg of caffeine while a lot of other drinks have 120mg of caffeine. A 12oz. can contains 1400mg of Taurine, 20mg of Guarana (my favorite energy drink ingredient for some reason), 20mg of Ginseng and 7mg of Vitamin B6. That's an impressive blend, and Jolt provides an impressive above average buzz.

All in all, if you can find any of Jolt's 12oz. or 16oz. cans (I always see the 16oz. cans), then pick one up without any hesitation, I really like these drinks.
